How to Renew Your Mind

Renewing our mind is so significant. We know what mind renewal can do, as it transforms us (Rom 12:2). The word for transforms is the word metamorphoo (G3339, Strongs Concordance) from which the metamorphosis has been derived. It’s a radical change. Jesus also in Matt 17:2 metamorphosised into this radiant and glorious figure. The glory of God is revealed in a person when their mind is renewed, and miracles are just a consequence of that glory.

Now, the question is how to do it? 2 Cor 3:18 uses the same word metamorphoo and tells us what to do. It says that we are transformed from glory to glory by looking at the face of Jesus. Great! I guess that was the answer we were all expecting. But wait a minute, it says that we should look into a mirror, to see the glory of God, and we transform into the same image. Here’s the verse.

~2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

So let’s get this straight. Paul is saying that we need to look at the mirror and see the glory of God, and then be transformed into that image which you see, or the glory of God. Why am I seeing God when I look into the mirror? Just before you say the word mirror was just a translation error, in 1 Cor 13:12 it talks about now seeing God dimly through a mirror. Yep! Mirror again, and Paul says that by doing that I am knowing (God) in part but then I will know (God) just as I am known. Why does Paul think that looking at a mirror has anything to do with knowing God?

Now, what is this mirror? James 1:23 gives a picture of what this mirror is.

~James 1:23 (NKJV) For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

James is saying that hearing the Word and not doing it is the same as seeing our face in a mirror and forgetting it. James is saying what the mirror actually is- It is the Word of God.

So, the Word of God is the mirror is the key to the metamorphosis of ourselves. We see the glory of God in the Word, and see who we are according to the Word and not according to the flesh (2 Cor 5:16).

So here are some steps to renew the mind.

Look into the Word and see who you are

Firstly, we look into the mirror which is the Word of God (Jas 1:23), and we see Christ, which is what 1 Cor 13:12 and 2 Cor 3:18 said so too. Now, why do we see Christ instead of us? Because we are in Christ. Our life is hidden in Christ (Col 3:3),. Most of Christianity tries to look into the Word and find themselves there, or an excuse to be who they are right now, but the Scriptures say that we should look and see Christ. We are Christ and Christ is us (1 Cor 6:17). Don’t get in the way!

Look into the Word and see what you can do

When we look into the Word, we read and believe what is written. Don’t wait to understand to believe it. Reckon it’s true. Why? Because the one who said it is The Truth. He has revealed in His Word what is possible for us in Christ Jesus and its ALL things (Php 4:13). The Bible says we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly realms in Christ Jesus (Eph1:3) and as a result everything which the Word says we can do, we reckon we can do, everything which the Word says we are, we reckon we are. If we don’t, James says in Jas 1:23 that we are deceiving ourselves. Why? Because living short of the manifestation of who we are in Christ is tricking ourselves.

Do the Word

Thirdly, manifest Christ by doing the Word. This is exactly what James was saying too,Jesus said in John 14:12 that we will do greater works than Him, BECAUSE He is going to the Father. Well, guess what, He has gone to the Father, and the greater works are waiting for us. Walk this way and we manifest the truth of who we are in Christ (2 Cor

When we walk this way, we manifest the truth (2 Cor 4:3) and that’s what the world is waiting to see in us.
