~Isaiah 60:21 (NKJV) Your people shall all be righteous. They shall inherit the land.
What a powerful promise from God to our Church Family! Because God has spoken these words, we can stand firm knowing that it will come to pass. But as we reflect on this incredible promise, we might find ourselves asking some tough questions:
These are genuine concerns, and it might seem impossible to achieve such a colossal change in our society. The idea of a completely righteous community can feel overwhelming, even unattainable. But here’s the good news: the answer lies in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of righteousness. It doesn’t just call us to righteousness; it provides it freely to all who believe. To a people who might feel devoid of any level of righteousness, the Gospel imparts a perfect righteousness—a righteousness that is not earned but received as a gift.
Isn’t that amazing? If we can truly reveal the Truth of the Gospel we preach and prepare people to receive this free gift, we start with an incredible advantage. We don’t have to wait until everyone meets the standard of righteousness. The righteousness of God is available from the very beginning of our Christian walk.
This is the essence of true Christianity. This is true Kingdom life. “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
As we continue on this journey, something extraordinary happens: a consumer of righteousness is transformed into a producer of righteousness. The fruits of righteousness begin to be harvested in our lives. The one who once reached out with empty hands to receive God’s gift now begins to offer back to God a return on the seed He sowed within them.
How incredible is that? This transformation brings pleasure to the heart of God. As we grow in righteousness, our little deeds of kindness, and our little words of love, make the world a more joyful place—a reflection of heaven on earth.
Glory to God for His indescribable gift!
We encourage you to take a moment to reflect on these questions. The journey of righteousness begins with receiving, but it doesn’t end there. As we grow in faith, may we also grow in our ability to produce fruit that glorifies God and blesses those around us.
